Aaron Barry

In my capacity as Pedro’s BTEC teacher & head of department, I had the pleasure of working with him during the preparation, planning and execution of the K Factor talent show at Kings Al Barsha, Dubai. Pedro held various roles which included head of communications and audio and lightning director. He demonstrated very strong leadership skills and in particular dealt with adversity in a calm and confident manner. This was best demonstrated when there were issues with the sound quality of particular microphones on the night of the show. He was able to find a solution through controlling various audio channels to identify and solve the problem. His exceptional leadership skills were also illustrated in his ability to manage his team by delegating tasks based on the expertise of his team members. He was particularly dedicated to his roles and worked very well as part of a team to achieve outstanding results.

Pedro was successful in achieving the overall goal of running a business event and did so despite the setbacks and problems he faced. One particular area of growth was his ability to remain positive in times of adversity. During his time as Head of communications it is safe to say that he faced many challenging conversations and experiences. This was particularly impressive as, students sometimes find it hard to move on when experiences don’t go the way they had hoped. He was able to resolve these issues through negotiating with the parties involved and arrive at an amicable solution. I really admired the maturity of his approach and I am sure he can bring these valuable lessons with him in his future endeavours. Overall, I was so very impressed with Pedro’s contribution to this event and it is safe to say that the event would not have been possible without his expertise, skills and personality. I wish him all the best in whatever he chooses to pursue in the future.
